Bluejacket Crossing

Today’s winery is located just around the bend in Eudora Kansas.  It is Bluejacket Crossing at 1969 North 1250 Road.  The first planting was in 2002 and they have won quite a few awards since they started!

They do have wine tastings.  The tasting room hours are Wednesday – Friday: Noon to 6:00pm, Saturday – 10:00am to 6pm and Sunday – Noon to 6:00pm.  You can even find jewelry and crafts by local artists in their tasting room.

Check out their site here and let me know once you have checked out their wine!

Stone Pillar Vineyard

Happy Friday!  Today is winery day and we are going to take a look at Stone Pillar Vineyard.  It is right here in Olathe at 11000 S. Woodland Road.

Stone Pillar is a family owned and run business that offers wine tastings during all business hours!  They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays but you can check them out Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 6pm.

Their next event is tomorrow!  It is “Music in the Vineyard”.  Enjoy a wine tasting, a little BBQ and music by Richelle Perkins. FUN! Click on this link for more info!

Bella Patina

You have heard me talk about Good JuJu’s before and here is another FANTASTIC shop in the West Bottoms that you must check out.  My fabulous friend Erin (who’s blog can be found here!) has a new booth at Bella Patina starting this month.  She has some absolutely gorgeous stuff at amazing prices.  She takes stuff that people like me think are just junk…outdated, boring, ick…and she turns them into magic!  The photo above is the “before” of one of her pieces.  The “after” is below!  So, head down Friday morning and see Erin.  My sister, Katy, and I will be down there too so maybe we will see you there!

Check out the Bella Patina site here for more info, hours and directions.
See you tomorrow!

Local Wineries: Jowler Creek

You know, we have a lot of wineries around Kansas City these days!  I decided I am going to blog about one every Friday until I make my way through them; well most of them at least…there are a ton! …and then I have to start visiting them.  Well, I might not make it through all of them before I start the visits…

First is Jowler Creek Vineyard & Winery.  It is just north of Kansas City airport in NKC.  You can head up there tomorrow morning and harvest white grapes!  They are having a special harvesting event followed by lunch at the winery.  You can check out their site to reserve your spot. What fun!

They also have an on-site tasting room where you can taste their wines from 11-5 on Saturdays and Sundays.  That will be my first visit!  I want to try the Jowler Creek Chambourcin!

They also have a grape stomping event on September 10th.  Haven’t you always wanted to do that?

Check out their site here and let me know if you have already been there.  I can’t wait to hear!

New FaceBook Fan Page!

I have a new FaceBook fan page set up and I would love it if you would “like” it!  I will share info on real estate, new listings, open houses and then lots of fun things that are going on around KC!  You can “like” it here!!!

Deaf Cultural Center

As you might know, I am learning American Sign Language and I love it!  During our last week of summer school we went to the Deaf Cultural Center.  It is located in Olathe right by the Kansas School for the Deaf and it is the ONLY Deaf Cultural Center in the entire country!  I was amazed to learn that.  There are a lot of Deaf people in the US for only one cultural center!

Anyway, it is a super cool place.  There is a ton of information about Deaf history and Deaf culture.  Considering we are right here in KC near KSD and have a very large Deaf population, you should check it out!  They even have great programs for kids…schools can come, girl scout or boy scout troupes, etc. It is free to tour the museum and if you sign up for the kids’ prgram, called Hands On, it is $5 per participant.  That includes three 20 minute sessions: a mini sign language class, American Sign Language, story telling, and a craft with a deaf theme.  Fun!

So, check out their site here for more info and go visit as soon as you can!

New Restaurants in Park Place

There are three new restaurants opening up in Park Place, located just behind Town Center Plaza at 119th and Nall, in the next few months, and they sound tasty!  First, is a new Mexican restaurant, Mestizo, which will be based on the recipes of Latin chef and Food Network personality, Aarón Sánchez.

Next is 801 Chophouse, which will feature U.S.D.A. prime grade and aged steaks, chops and roasts, salads, fresh fish and shellfish, weekend lobster specials and Happy Hour specials.

Lastly, is Gordon Biersch.  This restaurant will offer their signature garlic fries, gorgonzola bone-in rib eye, cedar plank pecan crusted salmon, lobster and shrimp mac-n-cheese, grilled chicken cashew salad and freshly brewed beer.

I am so hungry just typing about these places!  Yum!!!  Read more here.
